This announcement came after an emergency session of the National Working Committee (NWC) held on Monday at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
Following the meeting, Deputy National Secretary Festus Fuanter confirmed that the party had already issued a formal notification of the NEC meeting to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“The NEC gathering will provide an opportunity to formally appoint a new national chairman,” Fuanter stated.
The development follows the recent resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who had held the position since August 2023, succeeding Abdullahi Adamu.
In the interim, Ali Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North), has stepped in as Acting National Chairman.
Addressing party officials and the media shortly after assuming the role, Dalori pledged to uphold transparency, discipline, and unity within the party.
“I am determined to collaborate with every party member to preserve the APC’s unity, enforce discipline, and remain focused on delivering our promises to Nigerians,” he said.
Dalori also appealed to NEC members and stakeholders to prioritize collective goals over personal ambition, emphasizing the need to strengthen governance and promote internal party democracy.
