Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, stated that Ndume’s remarks hold no weight and should not be taken seriously by any rational individual.

This rebuke followed Ndume’s comments during a Channels Television interview on Sunday, where he alleged that President Tinubu is surrounded by deceptive individuals and is not fully aware of Nigeria’s challenges.

Onanuga, responding on Monday, accused the Senator of making careless, baseless claims on national television without offering any evidence.

“Senator Ndume is entitled to his opinions—even if they are often misinformed. He has a history of making sweeping statements based on weak arguments, such as his false claim that General Buratai was ambushed by terrorists,” Onanuga said.

“A senior lawmaker who frequently makes reckless remarks cannot expect to be taken seriously by right-thinking people. His accusations of kleptocracy and kakistocracy dominating the government are too broad and completely unsupported by facts.”

He further questioned whether Ndume truly understands the terminology he uses or if he is merely trying to sound intellectual.

Onanuga emphasized that President Tinubu is surrounded by capable and accomplished individuals who are diligently working to stabilize and grow the economy.

“The impact of these efforts is already visible: foreign direct investment is rising, the stock market is thriving, companies are reporting strong earnings, and the nation’s foreign reserves have grown to six times what Tinubu inherited. Revenue generation has soared, and state governments are receiving more financial support,” he noted.

Refuting claims that Tinubu is out of touch, Onanuga insisted the President is fully aware of the nation’s struggles and is actively implementing solutions.

“President Tinubu deeply empathizes with Nigerians and remains committed to easing their hardship. He consistently assures that the economic difficulties of the early reform period will give way to long-term relief, as measures to reduce food and drug prices and expand social safety nets are rolled out,” he added.
