Earlier reports had highlighted the recall of Nigeria’s envoy to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Ishola. An official recall letter authored by Ambassador Tuggar signified the conclusion of Ambassador Ishola’s tenure as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the United Kingdom.

President Tinubu Urges African Leaders To Respect Democracy and Rule Of Law

The letter instructed Ishola to “initiate the process of winding down your diplomatic responsibilities, formally bid farewell to your host government within a 60-day timeframe, and ensure your return to Nigeria no later than October 31, 2023.”

The statement that confirms the comprehensive recall of all ambassadors reads:

“In response to inquiries regarding the letter recalling the Nigerian ambassador to the UK, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has clarified that all career diplomats and non-career envoys have been recalled based on the directives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
