President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday announced the successful rescue of all 38 worshippers abducted earlier in the week from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, located in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. Tinubu explained that he remained in Abuja to supervise the response efforts and maintain direct communication with security commanders leading operations across the country. He also disclosed that 51 of the schoolchildren kidnapped from a Catholic institution in Niger State had been rescued, assuring Nigerians that he continues to receive real-time updates on nationwide security situations.
The President reiterated his administrationās commitment to intensifying pressure on criminal networks and safeguarding citizens in every part of the country. He emphasized that national security remains his top priority and vowed that he would not relent until every Nigerian can live without fear.
Tinubu commended the security agencies involved in the rescue missions and reaffirmed the governmentās resolve to strengthen intelligence systems, rapid-response capabilities and coordination mechanisms in the battle against banditry, terrorism and related threats. The rescue of the Kwara worshippers comes amid heightened public anxiety over recent abductions in the Northwest and North-Central regions, prompting additional deployments and reinforced counterterrorism operations.
