Although one of the victims was eventually released due to health issues, the family of the acting Rector received a call from the kidnappers demanding a ransom of N70m. The situation has prompted concern and calls for improved security in the state.

Rev. Dr. Augustine Akpen Leva, the former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the state, visited the family of the acting Rector and offered prayers for the safe release of the victims. Meanwhile, the state police command has initiated investigations into the incident.
