According to a statement by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright, released on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police received a report detailing the extortion of N2,465,000 by SP Ibrahim Ishaku, the DCO 2 at Abraka Division.
The statement explained, “The Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, on receipt of this disturbing report, directed the DPO Abraka to report at the headquarters alongside the DCO 2 SP Ibrahim Ishaku.”
Upon receiving a briefing on the incident, the CP immediately ordered the removal of SP Ibrahim Ishaku from the position of DCO 2 with immediate effect. Additionally, the officer was issued a query for misconduct.
The statement emphasized the Commissioner’s commitment to dealing decisively with any officer engaged in misconduct, extortion, or incivility towards the public. CP Abaniwonda Olufemi hopes that this swift action will serve as a deterrent to others.
In a related development, the Rivers State Police Command announced the dismissal of Inspector Michael Odey on Wednesday, following his involvement in a $3,000 extortion case, as reported by BUSHRADIOGIST Online.
