The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the incident on Monday, January 8, 2024, stating that active efforts are underway to rescue the victim. “Honestly, the police have been working to get the man rescued. We are on it; even when the kidnappers have been trying to mislead us about their location, we are on their trail, and very soon, we shall achieve success,” said the CP.
Sources familiar with the situation revealed that the kidnappers have communicated with the family and insisted on the payment of the N50 million ransom. “It is true that Pa Adeife Ifelaja was kidnapped on the night of Sunday, December 31, 2023, while preparing for the Crossover service. I learnt the abductors are asking for N50 million, which the family said they do not have,” the source disclosed.
According to reports, there have been negotiations regarding the ransom amount, with unconfirmed information suggesting an initial demand of N10 million. The incident has been reported to a police station in Ijebu Igbo. The police, despite the kidnappers attempting to mislead them about their location, remain determined to track and rescue Pa Adeife Ifelaja.
