After the court ruling, a struggle erupted between DSS operatives and prison officials over Emefiele’s custody. The prison officials eventually left the premises of the federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos, while the DSS rearrested Emefiele.

Reacting to this development, Reno Omokri took to his social media page and made an appeal to President Tinubu. He urged Tinubu to show mercy to Emefiele, stating that Tinubu is already considered the president. Omokri emphasized the importance of showing mercy now, so that it can be reciprocated when needed in the future.
