Rev. Father Basil Gbuzuo, a beloved Catholic priest serving within the Onitsha Archdiocese of Anambra State, has been abducted.

The incident occurred along the bustling Nkpor-Obosi road, with the perpetrators yet to make any ransom demands.

In a statement issued by the Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Onitsha, Rev. Fr. Prudentius Aroh, Archbishop Valerian Okeke has called for prayers for the safe release of Fr. Gbuzuo.

Fr. Aroh’s statement conveyed the unfortunate news, stating, “With deep sorrow, we inform the public of the abduction of one of our esteemed priests, Rev. Fr. Basil Gbuzuo. This distressing event took place yesterday morning, Wednesday, 15th May, 2024, along the Eke Nkpor-Obosi bypass at approximately 8 am. Fr. Gbuzuo serves as a resident priest at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Ogidi. As of now, there has been no communication from the abductors.”
