Her removal has ignited a wave of reactions across Nigeria, with many arguing that she was among the few actively pushing for substantial change, while others have defended the President’s decision as part of his administrative reorganization.
Veteran Nollywood director and actor, Ugezu J. Ugezu, publicly criticized President Tinubu for Kennedy’s removal, stating that she represented a rare sense of renewed hope for Nigerians. Known for his outspoken views on social and political issues, Ugezu took to social media, saying, “The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who promised citizens Renewed Hope, has sacked the minister who genuinely worked to make that hope a reality. This speaks volumes… it suggests that those leading the country are still unwilling to embrace real, transformative change.”
Ugezu further expressed concern that decisions like this discourage individuals committed to meaningful progress and reform, ultimately allowing corruption to persist unchecked. “Actions like these deter true agents of change,” he added. “The people who genuinely wish to transform this country, to uplift its departments and ministries, are sidelined, while corruption flourishes unchecked. It’s disheartening.”
