The report was presented on Friday in Abuja by the organisation’s Executive Director, Dr. Ifure Ataifure.

According to the group, the evaluation examined key indicators including transparency, fiscal discipline, regulatory effectiveness, project delivery, public engagement, and overall contribution to national development goals.

Other agencies that featured prominently in the ranking include the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, Nigerian Ports Authority, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Debt Management Office, Nigeria Customs Service, NAFDAC, Rural Electrification Agency, and National Identity Management Commission.

The organisation said the assessment was carried out over several months, involving field investigations, stakeholder consultations, and continuous monitoring of government institutions across various sectors.

Dr. Ataifure noted that the NEDC stood out for its intervention-driven approach to development in communities affected by insurgency in the North-East.

He said the commission recorded notable progress in infrastructure rebuilding, healthcare support, education initiatives, humanitarian assistance, and livelihood restoration programmes.

According to him, “the NEDC has demonstrated measurable commitment to post-conflict recovery and institutional accountability in one of the most challenging environments in the country.”

He added that the agency has continued to deliver visible projects and coordinate development efforts in communities impacted by insecurity, despite widespread concerns about public sector efficiency.

On the telecommunications sector, the report described the NCC as one of the most efficiently managed regulatory bodies in the country.

Dr. Ataifure said the commission has maintained regulatory stability while driving broadband expansion, digital inclusion, investor confidence, and consumer protection.

He further noted that the NCC remains a strong example of effective regulation, contributing significantly to communications stability and economic growth through improved connectivity and service delivery.

The report also praised the agency’s efforts to balance consumer interests with industry sustainability amid economic pressures.

The Transparency Watch Initiative concluded that the performance of both the NEDC and NCC highlights the importance of accountability, discipline, and efficiency in public institutions.

It added that while government agencies must remain open to scrutiny, those delivering measurable results should also be recognised to encourage improved standards across the public sector.
