During a visit by Abia’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, the Abia State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mr. Okey Kanu, cautioned residents of Abia against resorting to mob justice.
He urged them to report concerns to the appropriate authorities rather than engaging in acts of vigilante justice.
Kanu described mob justice as a brutal and uncivilized practice that tarnishes the reputation of Abia and should be avoided.
He stressed that both the government and the people of Abia must collaborate to put an end to such barbaric acts.
The Commissioner emphasized the dangers associated with the growing trend of mob justice, which can be exploited to settle political scores or personal vendettas. Instead of resorting to mob action, he urged people to report incidents to the nearest police station.
Kanu concluded by highlighting the need for a civilized and lawful approach to justice in the state.
