In a statement released on Friday, Frank urged authorities to ensure that El-Rufai’s constitutional rights are fully protected and that he is granted adequate time and opportunity to prepare his defence.

According to Frank, the former governor voluntarily presented himself to security agencies after returning to Nigeria from Egypt.

He emphasized that while the fight against corruption remains important, it must always be carried out within the framework of justice, rule of law, fairness, and due process.

Frank reiterated his support for anti-corruption efforts but warned against sacrificing legal standards or constitutional protections in the process.

The former APC spokesperson also appealed to northern leaders, youths, civil society groups, and the international community to pay close attention to the situation involving El-Rufai.

He urged stakeholders, including the Nigerian Bar Association, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and well-meaning Nigerians, to monitor developments surrounding the former governor’s detention and advocate for transparency.

Frank described El-Rufai as a significant political figure who played a notable role during the 2023 general elections, stressing that Nigerians should remain attentive to how the matter is handled.

He further called on security agencies to conduct themselves professionally and transparently, insisting that justice, accountability, and respect for the law should guide every action taken in the case.
