The governor gave the assurance on Friday while inspecting the ongoing Airport Road Bypass project in Port Harcourt, revealing that the project has reached about 65 percent completion.

Fubara’s inspection came just days after he withdrew from the All Progressives Congress governorship primaries, effectively ending his bid for a second term in office.

Despite the political situation, the governor, through a statement issued by his spokesman, Onwuka Nzeshi, insisted that governance and development would remain his administration’s top priority.

According to Fubara, the government remains committed to delivering projects that directly improve the lives of Rivers residents and stimulate economic growth across the state.

He assured citizens that ongoing projects would not be abandoned, stressing that every initiative already started by his administration would be completed by the grace of God.

The governor added that his administration remains focused and determined, emphasizing that the interest of Rivers State will always come first.

Speaking about the Airport Road Bypass project, Fubara explained that the road was designed as an alternative route for communities located around the airport corridor.

He noted that the project became necessary because disputes and protests involving airport communities and airport authorities had, in the past, led to repeated blockages of the major airport road, disrupting movement and economic activities in the state.

According to him, the bypass is intended to prevent such disruptions and ensure smoother transportation within the area.

Fubara stated that his administration engaged with host communities before commencing the project in order to create a more sustainable solution to the recurring challenges.

After touring the site with contractors handling the project, the governor expressed satisfaction with both the pace and quality of work being done.

He said the level of progress already achieved indicates that the project remains on track for completion before October 2026.

The governor further stated that once completed, the bypass would ease traffic around the airport axis, improve access for surrounding communities, and reduce disruptions whenever issues arise on the main airport road.

Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, economic stability, and the welfare of Rivers people.
