The National Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Dan Iwuanyanwu, has claimed that several influential politicians and businessmen from the Southeast are secretly supporting the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Kanu has remained in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since his re-arrest in June 2021. Despite persistent appeals from prominent figures, including Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and other Southeast leaders, the IPOB leader has yet to regain his freedom.
Recently, human rights activist Omoyele Sowore joined forces with Kanu’s brother and lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, and other concerned Nigerians in a protest in Abuja, demanding his immediate release.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Iwuanyanwu alleged that some powerful individuals fear Kanu’s immense popularity and influence in the region.
“There are top businessmen with major interests in Abuja, oil, and other sectors,” Iwuanyanwu said. “There are also politicians who believe—and rightly so—that if Nnamdi Kanu is released today, their political careers will end instantly, even without him uttering a word. Nnamdi Kanu is deeply loved by the people.”
