Isiaku Ndatsu Alfa, the acting director of AGIS, explained that ground rent collections were at their lowest from June to July. However, after the Minister’s actions in August, collections quickly increased to 500 million naira and continued to rise, surpassing one billion naira.

As of September 17, ground rents had generated precisely 1.9 billion naira, with expectations of doubling by the end of the month.

Alfa also mentioned the planned introduction of an online payment portal for ground rents, certificates of occupancy (CoO), and other transactions.

The online payment app, already developed, is expected to be officially launched by the FCT Minister before the end of the year.

This platform will provide property owners with the convenience of making payments from anywhere and is designed to improve revenue collection.

Alfa emphasized the positive impact of the FCT Minister’s commitment to increasing internally generated revenue (IGR) and encouraged property owners to fulfill their ground rent payment obligations.

He noted that increased revenue is essential for funding capital projects and expressed appreciation for the surge in payments following the Minister’s advisement.
