Rivers APC Fires Warning: “Fubara’s Sins Too Grave To Forgive – Even If He Joins Us
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has issued a stern warning to suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, stating that defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC would not absolve him of past wrongdoings. The party emphasized that it is “not a dumping ground for political sinners.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Tony Okocha, Chairman of the Rivers APC Caretaker Committee, made this known in Abuja on Tuesday while reacting to rumors surrounding Fubara’s Sallah visit to President Bola Tinubu and the political interpretations attached to it.
Okocha clarified that the suspension of the governor and talks of a state of emergency in Rivers were rooted in governance issues—not party politics.
“If Fubara joins the APC, it has nothing to do with the state of emergency,” Okocha said. “His sins won’t be forgiven simply because he defects. That would reduce the APC to a refuge for political misdeeds. Defection must follow due process—starting from his ward and progressing upward. As of now, no information has reached us about his defection.”
When asked about concerns over Fubara’s visit to President Tinubu, Okocha downplayed it:
“Why should I be worried that someone visited the President? It was during the Sallah period. Many dignitaries, including Chief Osoba and Chief Nyesom Wike, also paid Sallah homage. We cannot dictate who the President meets with.”
He also dismissed any reports of reconciliation moves by Fubara, saying, “I am not aware of any such effort. There’s been no attempt that I know of to make peace. The President may have advised reconciliation, but there’s no evidence it is being pursued.”
