During the Friday plenary session in Port Harcourt, the lawmakers debated a request from Hon. Enemi George, leading to the resolution extending the deadline to Monday, March 10. The House has now summoned RSIEC Chairman Justice Enebeli and other officials for questioning.

Initially planning to go on recess, the House decided to suspend the break after Deputy Speaker Dumle Maol moved a motion to ensure lawmakers would be available to address the RSIEC matter.

Meanwhile, Speaker Martin Amaewhule emphasized that the House had taken legislative notice of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s failure to present the 2025 budget for consideration, despite receiving a 48-hour ultimatum. Amaewhule stated that appropriate action would be taken in due course.

Earlier, the House had issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Enebeli, demanding his appearance before the House regarding the conduct of the 2024 local government election. During Wednesday’s plenary, presided over by Speaker Amaewhule, the lawmakers warned that failure to comply would result in a warrant for Enebeli’s arrest.
