The burial ceremony, held in Isiokpo community within the Ikwere Local Government Area of Rivers State, was attended by distinguished guests such as the former Emir of Kano, HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, and Africa’s wealthiest individual, Aliko Dangote.
However, a video clip from the event has sparked reactions online, particularly the moment when Godswill Akpabio rebuffed the assertions made by Sim Fubara.
Amid the ongoing power struggle between the Rivers state governor and his political mentor, Nyesom Wike, which has been the subject of intense scrutiny for months, Sim Fubura utilized the tragic circumstances surrounding the Wigwe family to take a swipe at certain Nigerian politicians.
“This one has to do with our political class, what is all this trouble all about? you want to kill you want to bury what is all about?”, Sim Fubura questioned
Akpabio when given the mic to speak at the event wasted no time to reply Fubura, stating
“What is the struggle all about I will answer you, the struggle we are not talking about politics, in 2006 I wanted to be a deputy Governor so the then deputy Governor invited me and told me that this office had no money and there was nothing in it and don’t no why you still insist on removing me from here and taking over.”
“So a woman who went with me said Your Excellency don’t go for impeachment just to resign since there is nothing in it and they started punching the woman, I need your excellency don’t punch her there is nothing in the office that is why I want it because you are too big for it.”
“So your excellency Governor Fubura if there is nothing in the struggle don’t struggle”, he concluded.
