A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has dismissed a motion filed by Chukwuemeka Aaron and 24 others seeking permission to appeal a judgment that ousted them as executives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The court ruled against their application to be recognised as interested parties in the appeal process. The motion followed a suit filed by William Fialasoika and 24 others, who challenged the conduct of the PDP’s ward, local government, and state congresses—proceedings that were held despite a standing court order restraining such actions.
The congresses, organized under the leadership of Aaron, proceeded in defiance of that order and triggered a legal battle.
On January 13, 2025, Justice Stephen Jumbo ruled in favour of the plaintiffs, nullifying the congresses and effectively removing the PDP executives at the state, local government, and ward levels—most of whom were loyal to former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike. The court declared the entire congress process invalid.
In response, the removed officials—Aaron, Oye Fubara Igenewari (representing local government executives), and Thankgod Beke (representing ward executives)—filed a motion asking the court to allow them to appeal the judgment as interested parties.
