Rivers State Government Responds To Departure Of Four Commissioners From Fubara’s Administration....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Four commissioners serving under Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration in Rivers State have tendered their resignations from the State Executive Council. The resigning commissioners include George Kelly, the Commissioner for Works; Henry Ogiri, the Commissioner of Power; Prof. Zacchaeus Adango, the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice; and Isaac Kamalu, the Commissioner for Finance.
Kelly and Ogiri resigned following their appointments by the federal government, while Kamalu and Adango resigned after being redeployed from their ministries to other positions.
The state governor, through a circular signed by the Secretary to the state government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, approved the redeployment of Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office) and reassigned the Commissioner for Finance to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.
However, both Adangor and Kamalu rejected their redeployment, citing concerns about the ongoing political climate in the state. Adangor, in his resignation letter, expressed his decision to preserve his integrity and mentioned previous instances of interference in his duties as the Attorney General.
Kamalu also cited the lack of progress in achieving peace in the state and criticized the governor’s claims about revenue improvement.
The Rivers State Government responded to the resignations, stating that they would not affect the administration. The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Joseph Johnson, emphasized that the government respects the right of appointees to resign and reaffirmed the commitment to the peace deal initiated by President Ahmed Tinubu.
