Both factions were scheduled to commence plenary at 10 am. The Oko-Jumbo-led faction planned to screen Emmanuel Frank-Fubara as a new commissioner-nominee, while details of the agenda for the Amaewhule-led legislators remained undisclosed at the time of reporting.

This session marks the first for the Amaewhule-led faction since a Court of Appeal ruling affirmed their status as legitimate members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. The complex situation stems from previous conflicts, including the bombing of the State House of Assembly Complex in Port Harcourt last October, following an impeachment attempt by 27 lawmakers aligned with the FCT Minister.

Subsequent developments saw pro-Wike legislators defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), while pro-Fubara lawmakers declared their seats vacant.
