His aircraft touched down around midday, sparking jubilant chants from loyalists who had gathered hours earlier to receive him, following President Bola Tinubu’s suspension of the emergency rule in Rivers State.

Among those on ground to welcome the governor were notable figures, including former Commissioner for Information and Communications, Barr. Emma Okah; former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Oreh; ex-Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Oji Ngofa; former Commissioner for Environment, Sydney Gbara; and former factional Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Victor Oko-Jumbo.

Others present were former Commissioner for Youths, Chisom Gbali; former Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Evans Bipi; former NUPENG President, Igwe Achese; former Commissioner for Education, Dr. Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja; along with former council chairmen of Port Harcourt City, Ezebunwo Ichemati, and Obio/Akpor, among others.

President Tinubu had, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, announced the suspension of the six-month emergency rule imposed during the height of the political crisis between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
