The 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has approved key appointments within the Kano Emirate Council, naming Alhaji Mannir Sanusi as the new Galadiman Kano—one of the most prestigious traditional titles in the emirate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

These appointments followed a strategic consultative meeting with major stakeholders, aimed at strengthening leadership within the council after the recent death of its longest-serving member, Galadiman Kano Abbas Sanusi. Before his elevation, Alhaji Mannir Sanusi served as the District Head of Bichi, where he gained widespread respect for his dedication to community development and traditional leadership.

As Galadiman Kano, he now assumes a top-ranking position within the council.

Additional appointments were also announced:

  • The Turakin Kano was promoted to Wamban Kano,

  • Adam Sanusi was named Tafidan Kano,

  • Ahmad Abbas was appointed the new Yariman Kano.

The Emir congratulated the new titleholders and urged them to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, wisdom, and a deep commitment to the welfare of the people.

Meanwhile, a police wireless report dated March 30, 2025, on the Eid al-Fitr celebrations in Kano, confirmed that the prayers across the state capital were conducted peacefully. This directly contradicts subsequent claims by the police of a “violent incident” during the festivities.

Earlier, reports surfaced that the Force Headquarters had summoned Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II for questioning regarding the alleged violence. However, the invitation was later withdrawn by Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. Observers believe the IGP acted under political pressure in a move seen as an attempt to discredit the Emir and the Kano Emirate.

According to the initial police report, both Emir Sanusi and Emir Aminu Ado Bayero conducted Eid prayers at separate venues—Kofar Mata and the Nasarawa mini palace—without any disruption or violence.
