Speaking on a Hausa program on Freedom Radio in Kaduna, El-Rufai stated that his motivation for entering politics was to serve the public, not to steal or seek financial gain. He expressed satisfaction with his financial situation prior to becoming governor and criticized the lack of specificity regarding the alleged misappropriations.

El-Rufai asserted his willingness to swear on the Quran alongside former state governors and current leaders who claim they never misappropriated public funds. He reiterated his commitment to returning to politics by 2027 after completing his studies, stating that there is no retirement in politics.

“I remained silent to see how things would unfold, but I constantly seek God’s guidance in my actions,” he said. “I am ready to swear that I did not enter public service to steal. I joined politics to serve the people of Kaduna State, and I was content with what I had before my tenure as governor.”

He criticized the ongoing investigations by the ICPC and EFCC into his associates, describing them as attempts to damage their reputations. While acknowledging the pain of the situation, he expressed confidence in divine justice, stating, “We have reported the matter to God, and we trust that we will receive justice.”

El-Rufai mentioned that he has instructed his lawyers to take legal action against those attempting to tarnish his name. Despite the controversies, he remains active in community service and is dedicated to working alongside others who genuinely aim to serve the public. “Our intention has never been to siphon public funds for personal gain,” he affirmed. “God knows our true intentions, and so do those with positive minds. May God bring development to our people.
