According to DAILY POST, the arrests occurred during the recent EndBadGovernance protests in Kano. Some demonstrators had carried Russian flags while calling for military rule in Nigeria and criticizing the President Bola Tinubu administration.
On Monday, Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Garba, provided an update, stating that the suspects were moved to Abuja for a thorough investigation into charges of sedition.
At a press conference in Kano, CP Garba explained that under the direction of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Command had acted diligently and professionally to manage the aftermath of the hunger protests that escalated into violence in Kano and other northern states.
The CP reported that the police had arrested 873 suspects and seized numerous exhibits. Additionally, 150 suspects were arrested and prosecuted for breaching the curfew imposed by the Kano State government.
