Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed Pelumi Nubi, a 28-year-old travel content creator, as the Tourism Ambassador for the state. Nubi earned this prestigious role after her remarkable solo journey from London to Lagos, showcasing her adventurous spirit and impactful travel content.

Announced by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, via a post on his X profile, this appointment highlights Nubi’s extraordinary achievement, which began on January 30, 2024, with her solo drive from the United Kingdom to Nigeria.

Nubi’s journey concluded with a warm reception at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border by Lagos State Government officials, including the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and the Special Adviser, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe.

In recognition of Nubi’s exceptional contributions to promoting tourism, Governor Sanwo-Olu awarded her a new home in Lagos and a brand-new car with a customized plate number. Additionally, Nubi demonstrated her commitment to the community by donating the vehicle she used for the epic journey to the brand-new J Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, enriching the cultural landscape of Lagos State.
