According to Sanwo-Olu, the visit was primarily to extend goodwill, express appreciation for the President’s policies and initiatives, and deliver the gratitude of Lagos residents for his continued support.

Speaking to journalists after meeting with the President at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos, the Governor lauded Tinubu’s backing of Lagos’ transportation projects. He also endorsed the Federal Government’s fuel subsidy removal, describing it as a necessary step for national growth.

“We came to celebrate with Mr. President, to offer our prayers and convey the collective support and gratitude of Lagosians. People can feel the positive changes of the past two years, and we’re here to reaffirm our backing,” Sanwo-Olu said. “The President understands Lagos’ unique transportation challenges, and his support has been instrumental.”

Addressing speculation about a possible rift between him and President Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu dismissed such claims, saying the atmosphere during the meeting was warm and welcoming. “The President was pleased to receive us. There’s no tension—only mutual respect and shared commitment,” he added.

As previously reported, the President also hosted members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governance Advisory Council (GAC), alongside Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Lagos Deputy Governor Babafemi Hamzat, and Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.
