Sanwo-Olu Unveils Ambitious 2026 Budget Before Lagos Assembly
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has submitted a ₦4.237 trillion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the Lagos State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The new proposal follows months after the governor signed the ₦3.366 trillion 2025 Appropriation Bill—also themed the “Budget of Sustainability”—into law on January 9, 2025. That budget had been presented to the Assembly on November 21, 2024, during a delayed ceremony at the Assembly complex in Ikeja.
Sanwo-Olu stated that the 2026 proposal, which retains the “Budget of Sustainability” theme, is crafted as a forward-looking blueprint focused on continuity, resilience, and broad-based prosperity for residents of Lagos State.
He noted that the spending plan is anchored on five strategic pillars, including infrastructure sustainability, economic diversification, and institutional reforms.
Tuesday’s budget presentation was overseen by the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, with Deputy Governor Dr. Femi Hamzat, members of the executive council, lawmakers, and other dignitaries in attendance.
