According to , bushradiogist a video surfaced showing Benson-Awoyinka directing security to remove an unidentified man from the J.K. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History after noticing he was recording her actions.
Benson-Awoyinka clarified that she was conducting a routine inspection when the altercation occurred. She emphasized that the video presented a distorted narrative and revealed that the Centre’s director, Qudus Onikeku, was operating an unauthorised canteen on the premises, which led to the eviction process.
The statement further stated that the Commissioner did not physically assault anyone, but rather a senior member of her team was attacked by non-state actors. The Ministry has ordered an investigation into the matter, labeling the video as an attempt at blackmail.
