In a move aimed at bolstering the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made a substantial contribution of 50 metric tons of high-quality dates to Nigeria. The presentation of this donation took place at the Saudi Embassy in Abuja, with His Excellency Faisal Ebraheem Alghamdi, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Nigeria, overseeing the ceremony.

The Ambassador underscored the continuous support extended by the Saudi government, particularly through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief), emphasizing their dedication to providing humanitarian assistance to Nigeria across various sectors. Noteworthy among these efforts is the recent implementation of the “Et’am 3 Initiative” in March 2024, which saw the distribution of 5,606 food packages valued at $400,000 to beneficiaries in Kano, Jigawa, Katsina, Borno, and Abuja.

Additionally, the embassy disclosed plans for a medical diagnostic campaign in Abuja, Kano, and Lagos scheduled for the final quarter of 2024, further demonstrating Saudi Arabia’s commitment to its humanitarian and pioneering role on the global stage, as well as its steadfast resolve to alleviate the suffering of those in need.

The announcement also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s completion of 98 projects in Nigeria, with a total value of $47,194,210, focusing on critical areas such as food security, healthcare, early recovery, sanitation and hygiene, education, and charitable assistance.

Upon receiving the donation, His Excellency Ambassador Murtala Jimoh, Deputy Director of the Middle East and Gulf Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conveyed Nigeria’s profound gratitude to the Saudi Arabian government for its generous support.
