In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by Isaiah Davies Ijele, the Director of New Media for the Muri/Sam Campaign Council, SDP claimed that Bello is planning to employ unlawful governmental tactics to arrest key figures and leaders within the party by labeling them as terrorists.
Portions of the statement include: “Based on a credible source well-acquainted with Governor Yahaya Bello’s alleged scheme, he is determined to rescue his floundering administration and intends to falsely incriminate and detain prominent leaders of our party, including.
the Director General of the Muri/Sam Campaign Council, Sheikh Jibril Ibrahim, the Director General of Youths Mobilization, Hon. Ahmed Attah, and other esteemed members of the Muri/Sam Campaign Council.
“In fact, in his bid to carry out this plan, he has obtained a court order to effect their arrests. It is imperative that we bring this information to the public’s attention.
We firmly state that any attempt to detain our leaders will face resistance from the Kogi State citizens who are eager for a change in governance.
“The source has also disclosed that an FCT Anti Kidnap team, led by the OC Anti-Kidnapping, FCT Command, and his associates, has been engaged to carry out these deceitful actions.”
SDP appealed to President Bola Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, the Inspector General of Police, and all relevant security agencies to take swift measures to prevent Bello and his allies from proceeding with the alleged plot.
