In a post on his X account (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, the former Senator from Kaduna Central expressed the view that conflicts often arise when a subordinate, guided by conscience or changing circumstances, decides to rebel against the unethical agreement between the godson and the godfather.
Shehu Sani stated: “Most Nigerian Political Godfathers do not select their successors based on competence; they choose and impose them based on loyalty, loyalty not to the state, but to the wielders of power.
“It’s a secretive relationship built on the capture of state authority, total control of political power, mutual protection, and exploitation of state resources.
“Challenges naturally emerge when the subordinate, motivated by conscience, overwhelming influence, or changing circumstances, opts to oppose the unscrupulous pact.
