In a statement issued Friday in Abuja, the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Babatunde Afolabi, disclosed that the deployment followed the directive of the Commandant-General, Ahmed Audi.
He explained that the officers were mobilised to ensure smooth voting, protect election officials, and monitor proceedings in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force, which is leading the election security operations.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will conduct the polls in Anambra, Edo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Ogun, Oyo, Taraba, Kogi, Kano, Niger, and other affected states.
Audi instructed the 12 state commandants to work closely with other security agencies in their respective jurisdictions, while emphasising professionalism, respect for citizens’ rights, and the need for a peaceful electoral process.
He urged voters to turn out in large numbers, saying, “We encourage all eligible citizens to participate fully and vote for candidates of their choice as an expression of their democratic rights.”
