During a press conference held in Abuja to discuss the future of the Nigerian seed industry in achieving food security, SEEDAN’s newly elected National Chairman, Yusuf Kiyibiya, emphasized the critical requirement for consistent and sufficient funding.
Such funding is essential to enable seed companies to produce high-quality seeds and ensure that farmers have access to these seeds for food production.
Kiyibiya highlighted the importance of policymakers recognizing the necessity for a stable and appropriate policy framework that facilitates the agricultural sector, with a particular emphasis on research.
He stressed that government support is crucial for research as it serves as the foundation of the agricultural industry.
