Over the weekend, El-Rufai and some opposition figures announced that the entire SDP structure in Kaduna had been absorbed into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during a strategic meeting.

In response, the SDP emphasized that its structures remain fully intact and that the party is focused on repositioning itself as a credible opposition force.

In a statement signed by State Chairman Adamu Idris, the party affirmed it would not be distracted by El-Rufai’s attempts to create division. The statement recalled that El-Rufai’s brief stint in the SDP was marked by internal conflicts and disruption, noting that peace and stability have been restored since his departure.

“Our structures are robust and active across Kaduna State. We remain committed to promoting the genuine interests of Nigerians and will not be swayed by El-Rufai’s divisive tactics,” the statement read.

The party also criticized the former governor, labeling him “a non-democrat, self-serving desperado, unrepentant bigot, and tyranny personified.”

Assuring its supporters, the SDP reaffirmed its dedication to democracy and good governance, vowing to reject any efforts to undermine its unity and values.
