This commitment was disclosed as numerous women, along with civil society organizations, gathered at the Unity Fountain, the Eagle Square, and various locations in Abuja to raise awareness against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
The Senate, represented by the Committee Chairman on Women Affairs, Ireti Kingibe, emphasized the importance of collective support for the fight against GBV.
Kingibe, also the representative for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the Senate, stressed the necessity to halt the disturbing trend of violence against women.
While participating in a “Walkathon” to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Kingibe conveyed her belief that the gender bills facing challenges in the 9th Assembly would receive consideration in the 10th Assembly.
