Senate Rejects Allegations Of 2024 Budget Padding....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Nigerian Senate dismissed reports circulating on various media platforms alleging that the 2024 appropriation budget was inflated by more than N4 trillion. Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, responded to the claims in a statement addressed to Senate Correspondents.

Senator Adaramodu questioned the credibility and intentions of those disseminating false information, emphasizing the transparency of the budgetary process leading up to its approval by President Bola Tinubu. He clarified that the comprehensive budget document, outlining anticipated revenue and expenditures, was already accessible to the public. Furthermore, he asserted that the 10th Senate, under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio, was not aware of any tampering with the approved version.

The statement affirmed, “There is no budget padding, as far as the Senate and the National Assembly are concerned. The National budget is a public document that explicitly states the expected revenue and expenditure of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Senator Adaramodu highlighted that the budget presentation and approval procedures were conducted transparently, with public awareness, and the subsequent Presidential assent was part of a publicly held ceremony. He concluded by stating that the Senate was not aware of any deviations from the approved 2024 appropriation mandate, emphasizing the commitment to maintaining the integrity of the budgetary process.
