Senate Showdown: Akpabio Files Lawsuit Against Natasha Over Alleged Mockery

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has initiated legal proceedings against suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central over a satirical apology she shared on social media, which he claims was intended to mock and demean him.

The lawsuit, filed on May 7 at the Federal High Court in Abuja and registered as case number CS/384/25, seeks a court order compelling Senator Natasha to delete the controversial post from all her social media accounts.

Additionally, Akpabio is demanding a formal written apology from the senator, to be published in at least two nationally circulated newspapers. He also requests a sworn affidavit affirming her compliance with the court’s directives.

The contentious post, made on April 27, featured a scathing, sarcastic message directed at Akpabio. In the post, Natasha apologized with exaggerated theatrical language, accusing the Senate President of promoting a culture where personal submission is valued over merit and alleging retaliatory treatment due to her refusal to comply with his alleged advances.

The statement ended with biting irony, describing her actions as a disruption to the Senate’s “natural order of quid pro quo” and mockingly pleading for forgiveness “from beneath layers of entitlement.”
