Akpabio, speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, lauded Nigerian workers for their outstanding qualities, including patriotism, diligence, perseverance, and dedication to their duties. He reassured them of the collaborative efforts between the National Assembly and the Executive branch to secure fair wages and better working conditions.

“I am proud to stand with Nigerian workers for over 25 years, witnessing their indomitable spirit wherever they go,” Akpabio affirmed.

Addressing this year’s theme, “Ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate,” Akpabio stressed his administration’s commitment to ensuring no Nigerian worker faces inhumane conditions again. He pledged comprehensive efforts to provide optimal conditions because Nigerian workers deserve nothing less.

The Senate President emphasized the theme’s relevance to global standards, affirming Nigeria’s commitment to remaining current with international trends. He underscored the 10th National Assembly’s dedication to enacting legislation to protect workers’ welfare, create conducive work environments, and ensure equitable compensation.

“On behalf of the Senate, the entire National Assembly, and my family, I extend warm wishes to Nigerian workers on International Labour Day. Today, we celebrate patriotism, hard work, commitment, and dedication. I assure you that your sacrifices will not be in vain. Tough times are transient; they will soon pass,” Akpabio concluded.
