Senator Advocates For Open Legal Proceedings Against Bandits

Senator Sunday Katung (PDP-Kaduna South) has called for the public trials of bandits who are wreaking havoc on innocent citizens across the nation.

Katung voiced this plea during his visit to the Ambe community in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where he expressed condolences over the recent attack on the community during a wedding celebration. The attack resulted in the death of six individuals and injuries to seven others at the hands of bandits.

The senator emphasized the importance of transparent legal proceedings against bandits, believing that such trials would reveal their identities to the public and act as a deterrent to others.

Commending the bravery of the community’s youth for apprehending one of the suspected attackers, Katung urged security forces to apprehend the masterminds behind the assault and ensure they face justice. He also cautioned against any collaboration with bandits, warning that those who engage in such treachery will face consequences.

Furthermore, Daniel Amos, the representative of Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, offered prayers for the souls of the deceased and pledged to cover the medical expenses of the injured. He vowed to collaborate with Katung to secure the re-establishment of a military camp within the community, a move aimed at bolstering security and restoring confidence among residents, particularly in returning to their farms.

In response, Micah Audi, the youth leader of Ambe, expressed gratitude to the lawmakers for their support during the community’s time of mourning.
