The suspension, executed by sixteen members of the APC Executive Committee of Igbotako Ward 11 in Okitipupa Local Government Area, was based on accusations of Ibrahim’s intentions to disrupt the APC and his derogatory remarks about the party in various media outlets.

However, in an interview with Arise Television, Senator Ibrahim asserted his commitment to the APC and denied involvement in anti-party actions. He emphasized that any decision to leave the APC would be publicly announced.

Senator Ibrahim highlighted the importance of adhering to internal democratic processes within political parties and outlined the constitutional procedures for suspending party members, which should involve state, local government, and additional committee levels.
