Ndume’s visit followed the January 4 Boko Haram attack on Sabon Gari village in Damboa Local Government Area, resulting in loss of lives and injuries.
During his visit, the Senator expressed sympathy for the families of the victims and prayed for the swift recovery of the wounded.
The former Senate Leader commended the military for their relentless efforts in combating insurgency and protecting lives and property.
The Defence Headquarters reported that over 34 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists were neutralized during the Sabon Gari attack, although six soldiers lost their lives.
Persistent insecurity in Southern Borno—particularly in areas like Mandara Mountain, Damboa, and Askira/Uba—has led Senator Ndume to strengthen his collaboration with military leadership to find lasting solutions.
Senator Ndume held a private meeting with Major General Waidi Shuaibu, the Theater Commander of ‘Operation Hadin Kai,’ to discuss recent security breaches, including attacks in Kauji, Wajirko, and Sabon Gari.
During the meeting, he praised the troops’ resilience and sacrifices, stating, “I deeply appreciate the unwavering commitment and sacrifices of our officers and soldiers in ensuring the safety of our communities. Your resilience is commendable, and we will continue to stand by you.”
The Senator also visited victims of the Sabon Gari attack, offering both moral and financial support to aid their recovery and help rebuild their lives.
