SERAP’s Abuja Office Raided By DSS, Deputy Director’s Lagos Address Requested....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

A staff member of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has recounted how operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) stormed their Abuja office.

According to Naija News, the DSS operatives inquired specifically about the whereabouts of SERAP’s Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare. This incident occurred just 24 hours after SERAP issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Federal Government, demanding a reversal of the recent petrol price hike.

SERAP had previously called on President Bola Tinubu to instruct the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to immediately reverse the allegedly unconstitutional increase in the pump price of petrol at its outlets.

Recounting the events, a SERAP staff member (name withheld) said the DSS officers ordered that Deputy Director Kolawole Oluwadare report to their office with the organisation’s documents by Tuesday, September 10.

Speaking to Vanguard, the staff member revealed that the DSS officers arrived without an official invitation or any formal explanation for their visit. The officer conducting the questioning was identified only by a concealed ID card.

According to the staff member, “Some armed DSS officers remained outside, while two—one male and one female—entered the office. They arrived at 11:09 a.m. and stayed until 11:21 a.m. The female officer repeatedly asked for Deputy Director Kola. I informed her that he was out of the country and asked if they had an appointment with him. She said no, and that they just wanted a ‘friendly chat.’”

The officers then requested to speak with any other management staff, but were told none were available. When asked about other SERAP offices, the staff member confirmed there was only one other location in Lagos and directed the officers to SERAP’s website for the address.

After leaving briefly, the DSS officers returned and instructed the staff member to ensure that Kolawole Oluwadare report to their office the following day, September 10. The female officer provided her name and contact information before departing, despite the staff member insisting that Oluwadare would be unable to comply due to being abroad. The staff also requested a formal invitation letter for such matters.
