The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the arrest while reacting to online claims that the singer was unlawfully detained, describing such reports as misleading and untrue.
According to the police, the investigation began after Taye Currency, an Ibadan-based artiste, filed a formal petition accusing Rolex Dee of damaging his reputation, engaging in cyberbullying, and issuing threats across social media platforms.
Authorities said the singer was later tracked to Lagos, where he was arrested. The case is linked to an interview he granted on the Agbaletu programme, which went viral and attracted public attention.
The police explained that statements made during the broadcast were considered defamatory and contributed to the escalation of the matter, prompting further action.
The Command stated: “The news is unverified reports capable of misleading the public.
“The suspect was alleged to have made defamatory utterances during a public programme known as Agbaletu, which subsequently gained widespread circulation online, thereby aggravating the impact of the alleged misconduct.”
