ThankGod, alongside his company, Eezee Global Concepts Limited, is standing trial on a seven-count amended charge brought by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), centered on allegations of foreign exchange violations and money laundering amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The case, which was initially before Justice Owoeye, was later transferred to Justice Aneke for continuation.
One of the charges accuses the defendant of engaging in foreign exchange transactions without authorization from the Central Bank of Nigeria, thereby breaching the Foreign Exchange Monitoring and Miscellaneous (Provisions) Act.
At the Friday session, the prosecution, led by Bilkisu Buhari-Bala, presented its first witness, Mohammed Timta.
The defence counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), informed the court that both parties were close to reaching an out-of-court settlement and requested additional time to conclude the negotiations. He added that if the talks fell through, the prosecution was prepared to proceed with the full trial.
In response, Justice Aneke granted the adjournment and scheduled the next hearing for September 26, 2025.
