Sh*ck Revelation: Nnamdi Kanu Confesses To Running Illegal Radio Station – DSS Testifies

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday heard damning testimony against Nnamdi Kanu, the self-proclaimed leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who allegedly admitted to operating an unlicensed radio station and urging the public to attack police personnel.

Identified only by the initials BBB and shielded from public view during testimony, the witness told the court that Kanu confessed to running the outlawed Radio Biafra, which transmitted on 102.1 FM and 88.0 FM frequencies without authorization from the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

According to BBB, Kanu confirmed that the voice on the radio broadcasts—calling for violence against law enforcement officers—was his. He said the IPOB leader made these admissions while providing a statement in July 2021, following a directive from the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) to investigate Kanu’s alleged terrorist activities.

The DSS agent testified that the statement-taking process was video-recorded. Lead prosecution counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), attempted to tender a compact disc containing the recording, along with the AGF’s referral letter and a certificate of compliance.

However, the defence team, led by Kanu Agabi (SAN), opposed the submission, arguing that the prosecution failed to share the documents with the defence ahead of the trial. Agabi maintained that the defence is entitled to all materials the prosecution intends to use.

Justice Omotosho upheld the defence’s objection, ruling that the accused must be granted access to all relevant documents to ensure a fair trial.
