Sh*cking Revelation: Comedian Destalker Exposes How His Pastor Friend Lured Him Into Yahoo-Yahoo

Popular Nigerian comedian, Destalker, has opened up about his humble beginnings and how his comedy career began after an unsuccessful attempt at internet fraud.

Speaking on the In-House Gist podcast, the comedian recounted how he once tried his hands at online scams while living in Enugu, following the influence of a close friend—who is now a pastor.

According to Destalker, both of them would spend nights at cybercafés, paying for long browsing sessions in hopes of making money through internet fraud. While his friend focused on deceiving people online, Destalker said he often ended up chatting with family members and old schoolmates on Facebook before falling asleep.

He said the experience made him realise that internet fraud was not his calling, prompting him to seek a more meaningful path.

In his words:

“Before I left Enugu, I tried internet fraud with one of my friends who is now a pastor, but I wasn’t successful at it. We would book night sessions at cybercafés for ₦250. I couldn’t afford it then, so my friend—now a big pastor, Rev. Nelson Umeh—always paid for me.

While he was scouting for victims, I was chatting with my family and friends from Ughelli until I fell asleep. There’s no need to overspend when you’re on the wrong path.”

Destalker added that the failed attempt turned out to be a blessing, as it helped shape his values, confidence, and determination to succeed through legitimate means.

“It just wasn’t my destiny. I can’t defraud anyone because I’m kindhearted. Those experiences taught me resilience,” he said. “Some comedians once told me I wouldn’t perform at certain shows without their help. I told them I would make it on my own—and I did. Today, some of those shows no longer exist, and many of those comedians are no longer relevant.”
