Sh*ckwaves As Fashola Reveals Where He Stands On The Presidency

Fashola made the clarification on Wednesday during an appearance on TVC’s Beyond the Headlines, where he reflected on his political career and the lessons it offers.

Describing his journey in public service as a rare privilege, he expressed hope that his story would inspire young Nigerians to believe in the opportunities the country can provide.

“My journey in politics has been an unimaginable privilege, and I hope it inspires another generation about the possibilities of this country. While we often celebrate success stories from abroad, we also have our own stories of rising from humble beginnings to positions of leadership,” he said.

Responding to a question about whether he would consider contesting for the presidency, Fashola dismissed the idea with a light-hearted remark.

“No. President of what? I’m already president at home. Fi kini ye le (leave it alone). I’m president at home,” he said.

Speaking on the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general election, Fashola argued that opposition parties have yet to present Nigerians with a compelling alternative to the current administration.

According to him, much of the opposition’s focus has been on removing President Bola Tinubu without offering clear policies or solutions that distinguish them from the ruling government.

He maintained that the 2027 election should be decided by competing ideas and policy proposals rather than personalities.

“There is nothing exciting from the other side other than people who simply want the president to leave. But the question is, to what? What are you offering Nigerians instead?” Fashola asked.
