Sh*ckwaves In PDP! Sowunmi Declares Intent To Dump Party, Eyes Alliance With Tinubu

Sowunmi made this known on Monday, June 9, 2025, during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today. His remarks came shortly after meeting President Tinubu during the recent Eid celebrations.

A known ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Sowunmi said he is open to working with Tinubu, despite his past criticisms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leadership. He emphasized that he would willingly part ways with the PDP if given a formal opportunity to work with the president.

“There has never been a doubt that I can work with him,” Sowunmi said. “I don’t do any nonsense. If I’m going to work with the president, I’ll leave the PDP. I will be fully committed. I have worked with the president.”

Recalling a previous encounter with Tinubu, Sowunmi described him as straightforward and receptive. He shared that Tinubu once asked if he was interested in a government appointment.

“The only time I held a government position was under Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s administration. Credit to him. He knew I could be a handful because I dislike sycophancy. I prefer getting straight to the point, and I used to challenge that behavior often,” he added.
